Hype About Hybrids

What's the hype about hybrids?Absorbancy.Breathability / No PUL. Variety. Less Leaks
What is a hybrid fitted?
A hybrid is a fitted cloth diaper that is designed to be worn coverless made with a hidden layer of poly fleece, to push moisture back into the soaker system and keep the outer shell dry.

We asked our customers why they choose hybrids over other styles of cloth diapers. Here are some of their responses...

(breathability/no PUL/all or more natural) my baby's bottom isn't red from the moisture constantly being against it. and they are so stinking cute!
-Brani

They are so FLUFFY! On a more serious note. I don't like the idea of PUL. I don't wear plastic underpants. Why would I put my child in them? I started with cheap PUL and he would get so sweaty in his boy parts. I like that fitteds breath well. He seems to be more comfortable in them. Oh, and all the the fun prints. Who needs pants? Put on a cute matching tee and he's dressed and ready to go. Oh, and it is best for the environment. That should be first in my list but if I'm honest, I just love the cute fluff!
- Michelle

We use a combination of different types of diapers. We love hybrid fitteds for naptime and bedtime because they are so much more absorbent!
-Katie

sooooo much variety, you can pretty much have anything you want on your baby's bum which, let's face it is pretty amazing. You don't really ever need a wrap so they have that lovely squishiness of a fluffy fitted but the convenience of an all-in-two/one.
-Rachel

I've had more leak issues with pul backed diapers than I ever have with hybrid fitteds!
-Jen

Breathable, softer against the skin, last longer, beautiful! Also made by hand, craftmenship is amazing! Supports small business and not corp giants.
-Heather

Absorbency. I normally use hybrids without a cover unless I'm out and about all day. I just change when she is damp. She can go 2-3hr in a hybrid whereas she will soak a normal fitted in less than an hour. I also prefer them to PUL lined diapers for breathability.
-Kim

They leak LESS than our PUL diapers.
                          -Lauren
My DD's entire stash is BGE's and I wish I had the money to switch her over. They are getting very worn around the snaps and I'm almost sure holes are about to come in leaving them non water proof. I bought them all brand new a right before hybrids were heard of by me at least and I wish I had waited a few months! Hybrids last me just as long between diaper changes and they work on my ds who leaks out of BGE's in half an hour.
                              -Haley

Absorbency - breathability - cuteness - flexibility - Yep. The end.
                          -Ashlee

Breathability, cuteness, no rashes from PUL, no leaks, actually designed to fit babies for the real weight range

FAQ's

FAQ's

**Scoring a Binky D**

Q: How can I get a Binky D?

A: There are several ways to get a Binky D:

- Stockings, which are every other Sunday at 5:00PM eastern time @ www.hyenacart.com/binkyddiapers
These diapers are ready to ship and pre-made unless otherwise specified. (AKA SYOF Slot or custom slot)
To score at a stocking make sure you are logged onto hyena cart at exactly 5:00PM and you can also ask for help in the BST group (see: what is stalking help?)

- Custom groups: We will offer custom groups regularly either on hyena cart or through the BST page. We will always give you a heads up in the BST group as to what fabric and around what time or day the group will be listed. If it is a group that will only be listed on the BST page, then we will either specify the date it is open until, or specify that we will call up individuals in order of comments until there aren't any more slots left. We will list a certain number of slots which you can purchase until they are sold out. In the listing description we will also let you know how long the turnaround time will be for that specific listing. (Because you are able to customize your preferences, these diapers are not pre-made)

-SYOF Groups
Please read the SYOF Group Doc.

-SYOF Custom slots: SYOF (Send Your Own Fabric) slots will occasionally be listed during a stocking on hyena cart. Once you purchase a slot, you mail your pre-washed fabric to Ashley and she will make your item(s) with the fabric you sent. The listing will specify the amount of fabric needed to make that given item.

-Rewards Program
Please read the Rewards Program Doc.

Q:What is stalking help?

A: You will see people asking for stalking help in the BST group. If there is a diaper that you have your eye on, you can see if anyone is available to help you "stalk" it. During a stocking, you are able to hold an item in your shopping cart for a total of 10 minutes before it gets relisted. Your helper(s) would log into your hyena cart account (multiple people may be logged in to the same account at one time) and try to cart the item at the same time you are. If you or your helpers successfully cart the item, you can then pay for the item from your computer since it is in your cart.

Q: What is a "Stalking Pass"?

A: Sometimes we will do a game or drawing to win a stalking pass. A stalking pass gives you the option of picking the diaper of your choice from the current stocking before the listings go live.

**Sizes and Preferences**

Q: How do I know what size diaper to get?

A: Our diapers are OS (One Size) designed with customizable snaps and a fold down rise to adjust sizing. Binky D's are designed to fit from about 10-12 lbs through potty training. Some customers have said they even fit their larger toddlers who are 40+lbs. All diapers are OS unless otherwise stated.
The other size option we offer is newborn. Newborns are designed to fit up to about 14lbs. They also come with a snap down option for the umbilical cord.

Q: What is the difference between LowRise and NewRise or Regular Rise?

A: The LowRise is the original Binky D. The overall length of the diaper is about an inch shorter than the new rise with no other differences. The NewRise (or Regular Rise) is our updated product. We found that most people prefer the slightly longer rise. All diapers will be the New Rise unless otherwise specified.
**We currently have SlimFit testers out and may soon be replacing these options with the SlimFit option as our new regular OS diaper**

Q: What is the difference between Serged and T&T (Turned and Topstitched) Diapers?

A: These describe the finish of the diaper. In our opinion, it is just a personal preference. That is why we are unable to recommend one or the other to you. Some people prefer the look of one over the other, some prefer the fit (serged has a little more stretch to it) and occasionally, a baby will have a sensitivity to one style. The best advice we can give is to try them both and if you end up preferring one style over the other, you can always sell the other in the BST group.

Q: What is the difference between rolled and ruffled elastic?

A: Rolled elastic is our standard elastic for T&T diapers. All T&T diapers will come with rolled elastic unless otherwise specified. We believe that the rolled elastic is softer on the babies chubby thighs with a T&T diaper. Ruffled elastic is the standard elastic on our serged diapers (We are unable to offer rolled elastic on our serged diapers at this time). Because the serged diapers have a little more stretch to them and aren't as bulky around the edges, we have found that the ruffled elastic on these is still gentle on babies thighs.

**Hybrid Fitteds**

Q: What does hybrid mean?

A: Our diapers are fitted diapers, but what makes them a hybrid fitted is that they have a hidden layer of poly fleece which pushes moisture back into the soaker system of the diaper. Most babies can wear our daytime diapers for 2-3 hours before the diaper gets damp on the outside. These diapers are not waterproof, but the moisture will not soak right through them like with a regular fitted diaper. The reason people love hybrids vs. diapers made with PUL is because of breathe-ability and airflow. Hybrids will keep your babies tushies at a cooler temperature than a diaper constructed with PUL.

**Prices**

Q: How much do your diapers cost?
A: All of our OS diapers and NDN's are $32. Once in a while there will be an upchage if there diaper is made with a very expensive knit like a Euro knit or hard to find fabric. Wind Pro diapers are $38 across the board and Newborn diapers are $23.
